NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
A true Southern Belle, Nashville, Tennessee is a Grand Lady who stands ready to embrace as the Welcoming City of the Deep South. Nashville's friendly down home atmosphere has made her known as America’s "Largest Small Town”. But make no mistake, Nashville is a sprawling metropolis that has well preserved its rich history while coupling today's high tech modernization. Nashville offers a genuine hometown flavor amidst the hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan city.
Nashville's rich history starts with its design. It is a city that was originally built with an “Antebellum” design. This means that originally, the city was built in a circle with the houses and businesses facing the Capitol Building. Through growth and urban sprawl, the city's layout has changed, the original Antebellum design of the center-city has remained. Like a time capsule, Nashville's proud history and the majesty of yesteryear has been tucked into every nook and cranny amidst this technically advanced metropolis.
Nashville is also known as the "Music City USA" and commonly referred to as the home of "Country Music". However, its thriving Music Industry is not limited to Country Music alone. Nashville's Music Row Recording Studios are a favorite destination for the Music Icons of all music genres. A stroll past anyone of Nashville's Recording Studios or Nightclubs will reveal a diversity of musical interests from Blue Grass, Country, Folk, Heavy Metal, Jazz, New Age, New Wave, Pop, Punk, Rap, Rock, and everything in between. If you love music, Nashville is an excitingly fun and diverse place to both visit and live.
Nashville is also the home to America’s longest running and continuing live radio show; "The Grand Ole Opry". Long before television, families would gather around the radio as their primary source of entertainment for the live broadcasts. "The Grand Ole Opry" was originally beamed out to America from the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville before being moved to the Roy Acuff Theater located at the famous OpryLand Theme Park, OpryLand USA. The "Ryman" has been restored and revitalized becoming a favorite venue for fans and musicians alike.
The "OpryLand Hotel" stands as a testament to Southern Charm, Hospitality, and the Music of the city. Inside its massive corridor is a virtual forest towering with trees, gardens, and a flowing river. Along its pathways you can find a collage of minstrels ready to entertain or enjoy the music from the Birdcage and colorful dancing waterfalls while sipping a Mint Julep at the Carousal Lounge in what can only be described as Nashville's very own slice of Heaven.
The plush "OpryLand Hotel" is flanked by "OpryLand USA", the home of the fast and furious "Cannonball Express" Roller Coaster. Throughout the theme park, tied right into the natural woodland setting you will find many outdoor stages with dancers, singers, and minstrels ready to provide a variety of entertainment. Both the "OpryLand Hotel" and "OpryLand USA" are accessible by land or by a leisurely cruise down the Cumberland River aboard the "General Jackson" Riverboat.
When visiting Nashville, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any one of your favorite music stars, especially those who have made Nashville their home. They can be seen everywhere, whether strolling on Broadway (Nashville's Main Street) heading to the World Famous "Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge", or looking for a treasure at "Earnest Tubbs Music Store". Even the biggest names in Music, with emphasis on Country Music, live and mingle just like every day folk, in Nashville.
Those of you who have followed us since the inception of "MY FANTASY RACER" know that we were originally slated for filming at the Memphis Motor Sports Park in Memphis, Tennessee. Due to circumstances beyond our control and the closing of the Memphis Park, we made the move to the Nashville Super Speedway located just outside of Nashville in Lebanon, Tennessee. In making the move, we altered many of our original plans. Instead of visiting Graceland, the former home of Elvis, we will be visiting Nashville's "The Hermitage", the former home of President Andrew Jackson. Instead of taking a Riverboat Cruise on the Mighty Mississippi, we will board the General Jackson Riverboat for a leisurely cruise up the Cumberland River. And, instead of racing on the ¾ mile track in Memphis, we will be competing on the 1.3 mile track of the Nashville Super Speedway.
All-in-all we think this change of venue will pay dividends to you and us. Did I mention that this is a Super Speedway? That’s right, we’ve promised you the opportunity to reach speeds most of you have never driven before...legally, at with 200 mile per hour easily attainable, we meant it. The extra half mile per lap also means that you will log an extra 10 miles in our 40 Lap Shoot-Out Race. We know that means extra fun and excitement for our Contestants and viewers alike. During our shooting season we will be visiting many of the interesting ports-of-call that Nashville has to offer, like the "Parthenon" in Nashville's Centennial Park, it's an exact replica of the "Parthenon" in Greece. Make sure you bring your cameras along to capture every memory as "MY FANTASY RACER" proves it is a uniqe "Contestant Experience" and the "Fastest Reality TV Game Show on Earth". Isn't it time you got your race-on?
